Festool Demo Days

Get educated on some of the most advanced tools on the market at one of our Festool Demo Days. A representative from Festool will be on hand to demonstrate multiple tool functions and answer any questions you may have.  Check our calendar for dates, multiple demos will be held at Mountain Lumber in Foscoe this year.

Mountain Lumber is proud sponsor of The Solar Homestead, Appalachian State University's entry into the 2011 U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon.  This event "challenges 20 collegiate teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive".  You can call or check out their website to schedule a tour of The Solar Homestead while it's still in Boone and learn more about the design concepts and their soon-to-be winning design!  You can also support the team by purchasing items to furnish the home from their Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel registries, or by a generous donation that can be made here.

Join us at The National Mall's West Potomac Park in September, Mountain Lumber will be there to support our team--Go ASU! 

 

 

 

Home Shows

Mountain Lumber sponsors an exhibit at the High Country Home and Remodeling Expo, along with other community and business events throughout the High Country.  These events offer the opportunity to meet with both the trade and the public in exploring the opportunities that Green and Sustainable Building practices can bring to any construction project.  At these shows, we try to provide information on proven building methods and highlight the best locally sourced materials available from North Carolina and the High Country.

 

 

In addition, we attend the monthly Green Drinks gatherings where successful,  sustainable building knowledge and exciting innovations are discussed and explored.  These informal Green Drinks meetings are social, themed events… and are always open to the trade and the public.

Green Home Tours

 

 

Watauga County's first Certified Gold Healthy Built Home is available for private tours to those interested in learning more about sustainable design and construction techniques that can be incorporated into your next green project.

This home features locally sourced materials, a geothermal heating system, spray foam insulation, Kolbe Low-E 366 Cardinal glass windows, low flow water saving fixtures and a Superior Wall foundation.

DeWalt Day

The first DeWalt Day customer appreciation event was held in 1996 and has since become an annual tradition at Mountain Lumber.  Each spring we invite all of our customers, including homeowners, contractors, building crews, and their families, to join us for food, music, and prizes at our main store location in Foscoe. 

DeWalt Day 2009 grand prize winner was Ryan McMichael, who won a 16’ work trailer.   Frank won 2nd prize, an EZ Dump trailer.  Event grill masters, Travis and Trevor Wilson helped us serve 500 lunches while we enjoyed amazing bluegrass music from The Lost Ridge Band.
